Santos Obreros

An image of a hard-working agrarian community comprised of seven Catholic laborer-saints popular in Southwest culture.

The blacksmith has made iron tools for every laborer; he embarks now on a bronze cross for St. Francis, who is meditating in the desert, beyond the thorny plants, amongst the sacrificial animals.

This wall-hanging tableau lives in a private collection in Driftwood, Texas.
